Our shopping habits have changed a lot during this time. No longer can we bring our reusable bags and containers to the store and feel like we helping to reduce global waste. We have been doing a lot more online shopping and not thrift shopping. What effects do these lack of reusable and sustainable shopping practices have on both the environment and our conscious? We will talk about this and more during our discussion.

With everyone at home during this time, and some individuals may have extra time on their hands, so we thought we would hold an event where people can share their tips and tricks for starting at home composts. As we have learned that food waste is one of the greatest sources of carbon emitters. This event is also pertinent to our fellow Vermonters as composting will become a state law this summer.

Climate and Covid Conversation

Before the pandemic it felt like climate change was one of the biggest problems facing humanity, and while that hasn’t changed, with all that’s going on it feels so much less pressing. Together as a community we can discuss how we are planning to still tackle climate change while making sense of this new world that we are living in.

What can we do about it today from home? While there has been a global drop in emissions due to this pandemic, it will all go back as soon as the economy restarts. How can we take lessons learned from this time with out making ourselves and others feel like that they need to live such restrictives lives in order make a difference in climate change as we don’t want to the two to be connected.
